And in a sense that is exactly right, because most of that wave really is built within a fairly tight cluster of factories, module makers, and brand workshops that all talk to each other across a few districts of Shenzhen.
For a buyer this is both good news and a warning. The good news is that the supply base is deep, prices are sharp, and a solid supplier in this niche can turn a round of samples fast. The warning is that the market is also full of cheap magnetic accessories that look exactly like the real thing but are not certified and will not reliably charge the way buyers expect. The structure under the brand names
Under the glossy storefronts there is a useful and fairly predictable supply chain. At the top you have a smaller set of genuinely capable module makers and assembly plants that build to real wireless standards and can do certification properly. The arrival of the Qi2 standard has quietly reshaped a lot of this. Qi2, built around a magnetic power profile similar to MagSafe, lets accessory makers offer good magnetic charging without paying for Apple's MagSafe license. For a private-label importer this is the option that most often makes financial sense: you get fast, well-aligned charging and a badge your customers recognize, without the Apple certification cost and approval lead time.
Real Qi2 certification still requires testing through the Wireless Power Consortium and adds both cost and time, so be ready for it. The alternative, selling uncertified magnetic accessories that happen to charge, is cheaper but increasingly risky because marketplaces and regulators are paying more attention, and because returns climb when the product underdelivers on the promise baked into the magnet.
What it costs to be realistic about
Prices move with the market and your volume, so treat any number as a ballpark rather than a quote. A simple magnetic wireless power bank or a basic Qi2 charging pad comes in far, far below retail, which is exactly why the category is so crowded. The real cost discipline is not the bare module price, it is certification, tooling for the casing, packaging that does not look like a hundred other boxes, and the returns and complaints you will eat if the charging quality is not where Western buyers expect it.
I remember the first time a small magnetic power bank I ordered gave a great sample, charged fast, and then the production batch ran hot and slow because the supplier quietly swapped to cheaper cells to win the order. On the sample it looked identical. That is the risk in this niche: the sample shows the best possible build and the bulk order shows the real margin target. A signed spec on cells, coil, and charging wattage is not bureaucracy here, it is your only defense.
Certifications that actually bite
Beyond the wireless standard itself, the thing new importers most often forget is that a wireless power bank contains a lithium battery, and that brings in transport rules, UN38.3 testing, and battery certification on top of whatever the charger needs. A magnetic power bank is really two regulated products in one shell. Do not discover that when your forwarder refuses the freight.
You will also likely need electrical safety and EMC certification for your destination market, and agencies will ask for evidence of genuine compliance, not just a logo printed on a box. How to pick a partner in this cluster
Start by asking what they actually make in-house versus resell, and specifically who supplies the wireless module and cells. Ask for certification documentation for a product they currently ship, real files, not photos of a badge. Run a genuine charging test on a sample with your own device to confirm it performs, and get the sustained wattage in writing on the order.
Then protect yourself contractually on the two things most likely to go wrong: the cells and the charging coil. State the cell brand and capacity, state the sustained charging output, and make clear that any change to those requires your written approval before production. A supplier who balks at that is telling you which tier they sit in. The ones who attach engineers to your questions and happily pin down the spec are the tier worth building a relationship with.

Shenzhen's wireless and magnetic accessory market is deep, fast, and genuinely useful for private-label buyers, but it rewards people who understand that the magnet and the charger are not the same thing and that certification travels with the product like a shadow. Buy at the tier that controls the module, verify real charging on a real device, nail down cells and coil in the spec, and sort out Qi2, battery, and destination certifications before you order in volume. Do that and the crowded marketplace becomes an advantage, because most of your competitors never bothered to look past the sticker.
